Police said the body of a 13-year-old boy who was abducted three days ago for a ransom of Rs 2 crore from Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh was found today.
City Superintendent of Police Alok Sharma said the body of the boy, who was the son of a local transporter, was found floating in the Bargi Dam canal near Bichua village, about 20 km from Jabalpur.
He said a piece of cloth was found wrapped around the boy’s neck.
“It is suspected that the boy was strangled with a piece of cloth before being thrown into the canal,” the officer said.
He said that efforts are on to arrest the accused.
Police said the boy was kidnapped on Thursday from Dhanwantri Nagar area in Jabalpur.
Later, her parents received a ransom call of Rs 2 crore and the callers warned not to contact the police, police said.
