According to government data released on Wednesday, mineral production in India grew by 6.1 per cent year-on-year in the April-July period of the current fiscal.

However, the mineral production in July 2022 was 3.3 per cent lower than the corresponding month last year.

Production levels of important minerals in July 2022 were: coal 603 mt, lignite 3.3 mt, natural gas (utilised) 2811 mt. m, petroleum (crude) 2.5 million tons, bauxite 1526 thousand tons, chromite 192 thousand tons, copper concentrate. 9 thousand tonnes, gold 93 kg, iron ore 155 lakh tonnes, lead concentration. 29 thousand tons, manganese ore 153 thousand tons, zinc concentrates. 127 thousand tons, limestone 306 million tons, phosphorite 160 thousand tons, magnesite 10 thousand tons and diamond 22 carats.

Important minerals showing positive growth during July, 2022 to July 2021 include: Phosphorite (39.3 per cent), Coal (11.2 per cent), Copper Concentrate (8.8 per cent), and Zinc Concentrate (5.9 per cent).

Other important minerals showing negative growth include: iron ore (-21.5 percent), manganese ore (-17.9 percent), lignite (-16.6 percent), gold (-10.6 percent), magnesite (-10.5 percent), chromite ( -9.0 percent), limestone (-8.8 percent), lead concentrate (-3.9 percent), petroleum (crude) (-3.8 percent), bauxite (-1.4 percent), and natural gas (U) (-0.3 percent).
