Petrol, Diesel Price Today: Petrol and diesel prices hit record highs across the country on Friday, October 1 as global oil prices hit a three-year high. According to the Indian Oil Corporation, the price of petrol in the national capital has increased by 25 paise to Rs 101.89 per liter from Rs 101.64 per liter and diesel by 30 paise to Rs 90.17 per liter from Rs 89.87 per liter. The revised price of petrol in Mumbai is Rs 107.95 per liter and that of diesel is Rs 97.84 per liter. Of the four metro cities, Mumbai has the highest fuel rates, according to state-run oil refiners. Fuel rates vary from state to state due to Value Added Tax or VAT.

State-run oil refiners like Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum revise fuel rates on a daily basis keeping in mind the rupee-dollar exchange rates along with crude oil prices in international markets. Any change in the prices of petrol and diesel is effective from 6 am every day.
