Retail inflation for industrial workers fell to 4.79 per cent in August 2021 from 5.63 per cent during the same period last year. Food inflation for industrial workers also witnessed a significant decline as it stood at 4.83 per cent in August 2021, as against 6.06 per cent in August 2020.
In July 2021, retail inflation for industrial workers stood at 5.27 per cent, while food inflation was also at 4.91 per cent during the same period.
The All India CPI-IW (Consumer Price Index – Industrial Workers) for August 2021 stood at 123, up 0.1 points.
The rise in prices of commodities such as cow’s milk, dairy milk, mustard oil, palm oil, cooking gas, petrol and hospital charges led the index to rise.
Also, stability in prices of commodities such as rice, eggs, fish, poultry items, apples, bananas, onions and potatoes negated the higher prices to some extent.
