Domestic stock markets are likely to open strongly with the momentum seen in the previous trading session. Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a positive start for the domestic markets. Nifty futures were trading 95 points or 0.8 per cent higher at 18,275 on the Singapore Stock Exchange at 7:30 am.
Overnight, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq ended higher on Wednesday led by gains in Amazon.com and Microsoft, but JPMorgan shares fell along with other bank stocks and weighed on the market. The Dow Jones lost 0.53 points, while the S&P 500 rose 0.30 per cent and the Nasdaq Composite 0.73 per cent.
Asian markets were mixed on Thursday morning; The Nikkei and Kospi were up 1-1 per cent each, while the Straits Times lost 0.3 per cent.
In corporate earnings, HCL Technologies, Indiabulls Real Estate and Century Textiles will announce their Q2 numbers during the day.
On October 13, the BSE Sensex had gained 452.74 points and the NSE Nifty 169.80 points.
