According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) December 2020 data, total domestic passenger car and two-wheeler sales climbed 13.59 percent and 7.42 percent respectively in December 2020.
In December 2020, total domestic sales of passenger vehicles were 2,52,998 units – 13.59 percent more than the 2,22,728 units sold in December 2019.
Total production of passenger vehicles increased by 24.17 percent to 3,15,838 units in December 2020 from 2,54,359 units in the year-ago period. But under review of 65,949 units in December 2019, their total exports during the month decreased by 13.49 percent to 57,050 units.
In December 2020, the total domestic sales of two-wheelers stood at 11,27,917 units, which is 7.42 percent higher than the 10,50,038 units sold in the year-ago period.
The total production of two-wheelers increased by 9.08 percent to 15,29,242 units in December 2020 from 14,01,932 units in December 2019. In addition, total two-wheeler exports increased by 23.62 percent from 3,67,521 units in December 2020 to 2,97,304 units in the year-ago period.
Three-wheelers saw a steep decline of 58.87 per cent to 22,126 units in December 2020 from 53,795 units in the year-ago period.
