Currently, petrol and diesel prices are largely determined by crude oil and foreign exchange rates.

Petrol and diesel rates today: After touching a new high on Tuesday, petrol and diesel prices in metros remained unchanged on Thursday, January 21. According to the country’s largest fuel retailer Indian Oil Corporation, the price of petrol in the national capital was unchanged at Rs 85.20 per liter and diesel at Rs 75.38 per liter. In Mumbai, petrol and diesel prices remained stable at Rs 91.80 per liter and Rs 82.13 per liter respectively. ()Also read: How to check the latest petrol and diesel rates in your city)

Oil marketing companies – Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum align domestic fuel prices with the global benchmark taking into account changes in foreign exchange rates. Any change in fuel prices is implemented every day from 6 am. Fuel prices vary from country to country due to value added tax or VAT.

Meanwhile, Oil on Wednesday stressed expectations that the administration of US President Joe Biden would give a massive epidemic-related economic stimulus, which would lift fuel demand and implement policies that would strengthen crude oil supplies.


Brent crude settled at $ 56.08 a barrel, a gain of 18 cents. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude climbed 26 cents to $ 53.24 a barrel.
