The Delhi BJP on Sunday organized a “Khat Panchayat” at Kisan Ghat in New Delhi to garner support for the agricultural sector laws recently enacted by Parliament.
BJP’s Leader of Opposition in Delhi Legislative Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said, “Three agricultural laws brought by the Modi government will increase agricultural production and make farmers stronger and prosperous”.
He said, we have to thwart the misleading propaganda of the opposition parties and their negative intentions and stand with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
President Ram Nath Kovind last month gave his assent to three agricultural bills passed by Parliament, which triggered protests in various states, especially Punjab and Haryana.
Bidhuri also accused the Congress of acquiring farmers’ land, developing commercial plots on them and earning crores by “looting” the community.
“… Now, the Congress has a problem when the Modi government is working in the interest of farmers,” he said.
The BJP leader also claimed to have fired a gun at the ruling AAP in Delhi, claiming that the party had failed to fulfill the promises made to farmers after coming to power.
Delhi BJP Kisan Morcha president Vinod Sehrawat said that for the first time after independence, the Modi government brought in agricultural laws, which would protect the farmers and their interests.
The farmers are aware of their interests and are with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi BJP vice-president Jayveer Rana said at Khat Panchayat.
Opposition parties are criticizing the way the bills are passed in Parliament and are also attacking the Center on the issue of minimum support price.
The bills under consideration are the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020; The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Agricultural Services Bill, 2020; And the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill 2020.
