Believe it or not: an egg picture rules Instagram for three years in a row

Social media is a storehouse of various interesting content. From time to time, we find a variety of posts that amaze us basically. One such post we recently had was an egg which has been ruling Instagram for three consecutive years. Yes, you read that right! In the year 2019, a picture of an egg broke the world record for getting the most ‘likes’ on Kylie Jenner’s photo-sharing app. And to everyone’s surprise, it’s still the same, taking the top spot on Instagram! Guinness World Records (GWR) took to their official Twitter handle to share the news and wrote that the egg picture “is still the most liked photo on Instagram with 55.5 million likes.”

For those unaware, in 2019 a post containing the original image of a brown egg was uploaded by the ‘world_record_egg’ account on January 4. “Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked posts on Instagram. Beating the current world record set by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got it,” the post read . According to the official GWR website, ten days later (on January 14, 2019) the picture of the egg surpassed the total likes of reality TV star Kylie Jenner, reaching 30.5 million likes during that afternoon.
