Dussehra 2021: Make Karnataka special sweet dosa to mark the festivities

Dussehra is just around the corner, and excitement is undoubtedly in the air! This year this festival will be celebrated on 15 October. In the Indian epic Ramayana, Dussehra commemorates the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana. This festival is also known as Vijayadashami, which is the tenth day of Durga Puja and is celebrated as the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura. To mark the celebration, many Hindus across the country cook delicious food and gather with family and friends. So, if you have a gathering at home too, today we bring you a delicious recipe of sweet dosa that you can make on the occasion!

Meetha Dosa, also known as Vella Dosa, is a traditional Karnataka dish that is considered an auspicious meal on Dussehra. This recipe is made from jaggery, coconut, rice flour and wheat flour and is also served as prasad. You can whip up this dish quickly in 20 minutes and enjoy it on Dussehra. Read the recipe below.

To prepare this dish, first heat the jaggery by adding a little water and make its syrup. Let the jaggery syrup cool down a bit, and add flour, rice, flour, grated coconut and cardamom powder and mix. You can also add some dried fruits and nuts to add crunch. Add water to make dosa batter. Heat a tawa and grease it with a little ghee. Put a spoonful of batter in the pan and spread it. Add little ghee and cook sweet dosa on medium to low flame.
