The body requires optimum levels of blood sugar to function properly. A high blood sugar level can be a major health concern. If the blood sugar level exceeds 180 to 200 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) or 10 to 11.1 millimoles per liter (mmol/L), the resulting condition is called hyperglycaemia or high blood sugar level. It is mainly caused by problems related to glucose metabolism and usually affects people with diabetes. Symptoms include frequent fatigue, frequent urination, headache or abdominal discomfort. But a good diet can often help reduce these symptoms and prevent high blood sugar levels. Here are some diet tips that can help manage blood sugar levels.

1. Manage Carbs

Hyperglycemia often occurs when the insulin in the body is unable to break down all the glucose consumed optimally. In such cases, it is better to cut down on carbs. For this reason follow a low carb diet.

2. Fiber

Eat foods that are rich in chromium and magnesium. Chromium is related to carb and fat metabolism and regulates blood sugar levels. Studies have found that it has a long-term effect on maintaining blood sugar. Magnesium deficiency is often associated with hyperglycaemia. A few simple choices regarding food can help you maintain your blood sugar levels.

2. Fruit Juice
