What better than good food and music to break the monotony of life! After a busy workday or weekend, we like to meet friends for some candid conversations, foods and drinks. And what connects all over the vibe is the ambience and the music. One such place is The Piano Man in Safdarjung area of Delhi. Taking a break from work on a weekday evening, we visited The Piano Man; And upon entering we immediately reached a different era with its old vibes.
With a spacious chandelier, dimly lit lights, wooden staircase and a signature piano in the center, the place has its own charm. It is a nearly two-story property with classic art and architecture, reviving jazz clubs of the 80s and 90s. Apart from the guests, the venue hosts some of Delhi’s most talented and budding musicians who perform live music at the center stage and make the environment more vibrant. Piano Man also hosts an open mic where anyone can go on stage and perform.
We decided to sit back, relax and enjoy some good music and food. Some refreshing cocktails – while sizzling in Singhal Malt and DJ’s Cliffhanger – we ordered for noni sauce, spicy chicken and soy dimsum, and stuffed mushrooms in Chicken and Chives Dism. Crispy mushrooms, home-made sweet sticky Malay Dipping Sauce – add a flavor to our palate, filled with the taste of stuffed mushrooms. In addition, we should mention that the dimsums were soft, juicy and melted in our mouths in no time.
While passing through the menu for the main course, one dish caught our attention with its unique combination. It was a vegetable of lady finger with coconut rice. Okra with coconut rice – sounds interesting, doesn’t it? It was the same for us. However, eliminating all our apprehensions, we ordered the dish. To our surprise, it turned out to be nothing like we had tasted before. Tender okra, tossed in home-made sambal sauce, served with crispy onions on a bed of coconut rice – this dish is irresistible! In other words, this dish offers every taste to our taste.
With a satisfying experience, we called it a day and returned home with a sense of belonging.
If you are looking for a break for a few hours while living in Delhi, we suggest you visit The Piano Man. You can also visit their Gurgaon property.
