Navratri 2021: How to make fast-friendly pumpkin curry for a nutritious meal



Navratri 2021 is finally here! According to the Hindu calendar, this nine-day festival is celebrated annually during the months of September and October. Also known as Sharad Navratri, this religious festival is celebrated in honor of Goddess Durga. Each day is celebrated by worshiping nine incarnations of Goddess Durga. The celebration extends to the food we eat. Some people practice vegetarianism for nine days, others fast for nine days. This fast is a little different from the regular fast, just not consuming certain food items. Recipe for making Kadu Sabzi, a fast-friendly vegetable:

Fry asafoetida, fenugreek seeds and cumin seeds in oil. When the seeds crackle, add ginger, pumpkin and green chillies. Fry the pumpkin on high flame till it looks shiny. Season with rock salt, turmeric, garam masala, coriander powder, chili powder and sugar. Cook for 2 minutes, garnish with coriander and the vegetable is ready!
