Toblerone… “Slovakian” chocolate. Cost cutting…the curse of any good thing. Leave it to an American company to spoil great chocolate by outsourcing the goods to Slovakia. ☹️ https://t.co/ikOvG61UQQ. — Will (@wluce) March 7, 2023

Interestingly, according to Mondelez, Toblerone was created in Switzerland in the year 1908 by Theodor Tobler and his cousin Emil Baumann. It is said that the chocolate’s iconic shape was also inspired by the Tobler’s mountainous homeland in the Matterhorn. “We will be relaunching the Toblerone packaging from this summer,” Livia Kolmitz, a spokeswoman for Mondelez, told Reuters, adding that the brand was ‘founded in Switzerland’.
