In a village in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh, five workers were burnt after an explosion in a firecracker factory today.
Police have arrested the operator of the unit, who has been identified as Yusuf.
The unit was operated from a house located in a different area in Bakshiwala village.
Superintendent of Police Dharamvir Singh said that the explosion occurred after the gunpowder was laid.
At the time of the incident, nine people were working there, of which four managed to escape, while five were killed.
The victims have been identified as Vedpal, Chintu, Pradeep, Sonu and Brajpal, residents of nearby Bukhara.
The Superintendent of Police said that within 20 minutes of the incident, a firefighter arrived on the spot and controlled the flames.
District Magistrate Ramakant Pandey said that firecrackers are being made on valid license.
Meanwhile, an official release in Lucknow said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the incident.
The release said that he directed the senior officials of the district to immediately reach the spot and provide all possible help to the affected.
The Chief Minister also ordered an inquiry into the accident and asked the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police to give a joint report.
