Dehradun / Haridwar:
Five COVID-19 patients, including a woman, died in a private hospital in Roorkee in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district, allegedly due to disruption in oxygen supply to the facility for about 30 minutes.
A doctor at the hospital said that the incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday when the supply of oxygen to the hospital was interrupted between 1.30 and 2 pm.
One of the patients who died was on ventilator support while four others were on oxygen beds, he said.
District Magistrate of Haridwar C Ravi Shankar said on Wednesday that a magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
He said that the medical audit of the hospital is also being done by the Chief Medical Superintendent of the Joint Government Hospital, Roorkee and a team of two doctors.
The team will give a detailed report in a week on the availability, demand and supply ratio of oxygen in the hospital and the number of patients there.
He said that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible for the incident.
