A cloudburst in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district left many shops buried under rubble

The cloudburst in the Binsar hill area of ​​Chamoli district in Uttarakhand on Tuesday caused havoc in the market, while many shops were buried under rubble.

The District Magistrate has directed the Chamoli officials to provide immediate relief to the affected people, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat.

Rawat said in a tweet, “The state government will ensure proper treatment of the injured and proper arrangement of food and shelter for the homeless. We are assessing the damage and will provide the permissible assistance to the affected people as soon as possible.”

One person and his two children were rescued from the wreckage. Local officials and State Disaster Response Fund personnel are on the spot to carry out rescue operations.

Meanwhile, at around 8 pm tonight, the water level in the Rishiganga of Tapovan area rose, due to which officials stopped the operation of the ongoing NTPC project.

Chamoli District Magistrate Swati Bhadoria said the surrounding villagers were warned to stay out of the water.
