CPI MP moves privilege motion notice in Rajya Sabha against Centre’s reply on COVID deaths
Communist Party of India (CPI) MP Binoy Viswam has given a privilege motion notice on Thursday against a reply in Rajya Sabha by Minister of State Bharathi Pravin Pawar that no one died due to non-availability of oxygen.

“The Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Bharati Praveen Pawar, in reply to Unstarred Question 243 on July 20, 2021, has stated that there has been no death due to lack of oxygen by the States during the second wave of COVID-19. Apart from being completely disrespectful to the hundreds of people who have faced this avoidable demise, the government has tried to mislead the Parliament with its response and thereby breach parliamentary privilege,” said Mr. Viswam to the Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha. Wrote.

The CPI leader said that thousands of people died due to lack of oxygen during the months of April and May 2021 across the country. Numerous reports in the media and personal experiences of many citizens during those unfortunate months are testimony to this fact.
