India said today that it was looking forward to the visit of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson next month amid reports that the trip may not be possible in Britain due to a rapidly spreading mutated version of the coronavirus.
“We invited the Prime Minister of Britain as the chief guest at the Republic Day parade in 2021. When Britain’s Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab was here, he publicly confirmed his acceptance. So we are here to welcome the Prime Minister Look forward to. ” Foreign Ministry spokesman Anurag Shrivastava said.
He was asked in a media briefing about reports that it would not be possible for Boris Johnson to visit India next month.
Britain’s Foreign Secretary Rab visited India last week to prepare the ground for Boris Johnson’s visit.
Dominic Raab said at a joint press conference with his Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar, “The British Prime Minister has accepted a very generous invitation to attend India’s Republic Day celebrations (as chief guest) in January.”
