The Union Health Ministry on Friday said that ICMR will launch sero surveys at the national level to assess the spread of COVID-19 and all states/UTs should also be encouraged to conduct them so that information is collected from all geographical areas. can be done.

The ministry also said that the COVID situation in the country appears to be stabilizing, but urged people to continue to follow the norms of proper behavior and social distancing.

“Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) will conduct national sero surveys to assess the spread of COVID and states/UTs should also conduct them to obtain all geographical information,” it said.

The ministry said that the daily new COVID-19 cases in India have registered a decline of around 78 per cent since the highest daily number of cases was reported on May 7.

It also said that the weekly COVID-19 positivity rate has come down by 74 per cent as the highest such rate was recorded between April 30 and May 6 at 21.6 per cent.

The Center underlined that breaking the chain of transmission ensures less pressure on health infrastructure and better quality of care.
