Mamta Banerjee to be less important due to swearing-Kovid epidemic

The official said that BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has also been invited for the ceremony.

Kolkata:

A government official said that the swearing-in ceremony of Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee as Chief Minister at the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday morning would be a less important event.

The invitation for the event has been sent to his predecessor, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Leader of the Opposition in the outgoing House, Abdul Mannan and CPI (M) veteran Biman Bose, the official said on Tuesday.

He said that the Chief Ministers of other states and leaders of other political parties have not been invited for the program keeping in view the current COVID-19 situation in the country.

“It has been decided to keep Mamata Banerjee’s oath-taking ceremony very simple due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Ms. Banerjee will be the only leader to be sworn in tomorrow. The event will be very brief.” ” he told.

TMC sources said Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, election strategist Prashant Kishore and party leader Firhad Hakim are expected to be present at the Raj Bhavan on May 5 at 10.45 am.

The official said that BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has also been invited for the ceremony.

Soon after taking the oath, Ms. Banerjee will visit the state secretariat “Nabanna”, where she will be given the “Guard of Honor” by the Kolkata Police.
