Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases, the Manipur government on Friday decided to extend the ongoing curfew in seven districts till June 30.
Due to the high positivity rate, curfew was first imposed on May 8 in Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching, Ukhrul, Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts, and later it was extended till June 11.
“The number of Kovid-19 infections and deaths in the state continues to be high and there is a need to continue with the restrictions till it comes down significantly,” a Home Department order said on Friday.
However, activities other than those already permitted will now be allowed.
Government has allowed opening of Airlines City Booking Reservation Office and Railway Reservation Office in MSRTC premises from 10 am to 2 pm, and allowed bakery operations taking adequate precaution and strictly adhering to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour. is.
However, inter-district movement will be restricted under curfew in seven districts from the remaining nine districts where curfew is not in force.
