New Delhi:

The Ministry of Civil Aviation on Tuesday allowed pilot drone flight operations that would go beyond the SpiceJet, Danzo Air Consortium, Skylark drones and Swiggy and 17 other entities to the line of sight (BVLOS).

The ministry said 17 other entities include Virginia Tech India, ShopEx Omnipresent Consortium, Asteria Aerospace Private Limited, Sentinel Networks Private Limited, Marut Drontech Private Limited and Sagar Defense Engineering Private Limited.

The ministry has given these 20 entities a conditional exemption from the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Rules, 2021 for “operating BVLOS pilot flights”, it said on Twitter.

This discount will be valid for one year or till the next order.

On May 13, 2019, a committee constituted by the Ministry invited interest (EOI) for BVLOS pilot flights.

The committee evaluated the 34 EOIs received and selected the above 20 institutions.
