new Delhi:

The Foreign Ministry said today that no foreign dignitaries would attend the Republic Day celebrations as the chief guest due to the outbreak of Kovid.

Ministry spokesman Anurag Shrivastava said, “Due to the global COVID-19 status, it has been decided that there will be no foreign state or head of government as the chief guest at our Republic Day celebrations this year.”

Earlier, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was expected to be the chief guest this year. But he canceled his trip after an outbreak of the highly contagious mutant strain of the virus, which has affected thousands of people in Britain.
