Aston Villa are planning to form a “top team” around England international Jack Grealish after signing a five-year new contract on Tuesday. The 25-year-old playmaker and club captain was linked a step away Premier League During the transfer window. Villa chief executive Christian Purslow said it would allow last season’s League Cup finals to be invested in better quality players.
“Jack is the epitome of our owner’s vision for Aston Villa,” Perslow said.
“He joined our club as a local boy and developed into one of the finest players in the country and finally became a full England international player last week.
“We are determined to have a top team around him and he is delighted that he is expanding his contract and committing himself to the club he loves.”
