Pune: As the work of Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar metro is progressing at a rapid pace on one side, preparations have started to install state-of-the-art systems in the upcoming trains for this project. 22 trains of “Alstom” company will run on this route, and when using the “brake” to stop the train, it will generate power again (regenerative braking technology). It has been claimed by ‘Pune IT City Metro’ that at least 30-35% electricity will be saved due to this.

Pune IT City Metro Company reached the milestone of completing the construction of 300 piers on the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar road last week. The construction of the pillars and metro stations is progressing rapidly. It was decided to buy trainsets from the company ‘Alstom’ for this metro, and 22 trainsets of three cars (coaches) each will be manufactured in their factory in Chennai under ‘Make in India’. Like other metros, this train will help save energy with modern facilities such as CCTV, Wi-Fi.

Braking energy storage

– Since there is a station every kilometer, the “brake” is constantly used to stop the metro.

– ‘RBT’ technology stores the energy generated during braking in the batteries.

– It is thus possible to reuse this energy to increase the speed of the metro or at other times.

– This technology can save Metro 30 to 35% of energy.

Regenerative braking technology will be used in Hinjewadi Metro trains to save energy and provide advanced passenger services and facilities. Thanks to this technology, the energy required for the operation of metros can be significantly saved. – Alok Kapoor, CEO, Pune IT City Metro
