– On June 24, 2022, Shiv Sena filed a petition against rebel MPs and asked the Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly to disqualify 16 MPs belonging to the Shinde faction. The Vice President met with Shiv Sena leaders and also later met with the Solicitor General of Maharashtra for legal advice.
– On June 25, 2022, the Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly issued notices of disqualification to 16 Shiv Sena MPs who had allied with rebel leader Eknath Shinde.
– On June 26, 2022, Eknath Shinde petitioned the Supreme Court against the Vice President’s decision. Meanwhile, the internal conflict in Shiv Sena continued. Within 10 days of Eknath Shinde’s revolt, Uddhav Thackeray removed Shinde from the post of ‘head of the Shiv Sena’, leading to the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra.
– On June 30, Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis regained his seat on the throne of Maharashtra with the help of rebel Shiv Sena MPs and formed the government together. This time, the post of Chief Minister was given to Eknath Shinde and the post of Deputy Chief Minister to Devendra Fadnavis. The swearing-in ceremony of these two leaders also took place.
– A two-day session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly has been convened on July 3-4 to elect a new speaker and test Shinde on the ground. BJP MP Rahul Narvekar was elected Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for the first time on July 3.
– Eknath Shinde won the Floor Test of Maharashtra on July 4th. 164 votes were cast in favor while nine members voted against him. Shinde took the oath and passed the ground test. After that, the two Shiv Sena factions approached the Supreme Court for a legal battle.

– On Nov. 15, a single bench headed by Judge Sanjay Narula denied Thackeray’s motion and said the Election Commission would soon rule on the matter.
– On December 12, lawyers for both parties asked for more time to claim the party’s name and symbol.
– On December 13, former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray addressed the Delhi High Court.
– On January 10, Eknath Shinde’s attorney Mahesh Jethmalane argued that the way the Shiv Sena constitution was changed in 2018 was illegal and said that Eknath Shinde was the real Shiv Sena.
– On February 17, the Electoral Commission ordered that the Eknath Shinde group be given the official name of Shiv Sena and the symbol of the party founded by Balasaheb Thackeray.
