Mumbai: At Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Bombay, the country’s financial capital, customs officers have reached the height of “corruption”. In the past 10 days, four customs officers have been chained by the CBI. The CBI took this step after realizing the “modus operandi” of customs officers. Above all, passengers who landed at the airport did not even realize that they had been robbed.

What is the event exactly?

A passenger, a resident of Pune, landed at Mumbai airport from Dubai. The lady concerned was out of “Red Channel” as she had purchased a lot of goods overseas. At that time, the customs officers notified her. He immediately arrested the woman concerned. She had jewelry weighing about a tola and a half and an iPhone. Relevant officials told the woman that you should pay 5,000 rupees. After giving the Google Pay number, the woman paid Rs 5,000 to Google Pay. This money went to the account of a person named Sanjay Joshi.

In the second incident, a person from Kerala landed at Mumbai airport in the early hours of February 10. As he was leaving the “Green Channel”, he was intercepted by a customs officer. The customs officer told the passenger that you will have to pay 28,000 rupees for your iPhone as customs duty. I bought this iPhone eight months ago. Besides, I don’t have any more money to pay you now, said the concerned passenger. After that, the customs officers forced the concerned passenger to pay 7,000 rupees to Google. This money also went to the account of a person named Sanjay Joshi.

The CBI has obtained information on incidents of corruption taking place at the airport. Did a CBI agent call a passenger and ask you for money at the airport to confirm? I asked that. On this yes, I was accused. The passenger informed the CBI officer that he had charged me a certain amount.

After that, based on the written complaint filed by the affected passenger, the CBI registered a case. So far, CBI has been able to nab two superintendent level officers, a PI and a constable in this corruption case.
