Mr. Ta. Representative, Pimpri: An order to waive the penalty imposed on valid construction for all types of construction was issued by the state government on Friday. Although this ruling will benefit 97,699 buildings within the boundaries of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, the penalty will only be lifted after paying the basic tax. Therefore, the Municipality of Pimpri-Chinchwad requested the owners to immediately pay the initial tax and obtain a penalty waiver certificate.

The amnesty certificate will be available online for citizens. Affected owners can download this certificate immediately after making full payment of the initial fee. Necessary changes have been made to the computerized tax collection system. In addition, the amnesty will apply to illegal constructions up to the date of the Ordinance. This remission is permanent. It was also clarified in the order that the penalty for illegal construction has been removed, meaning construction will not become regular. If the existing illegal constructions have not been registered by the owners concerned before March 3, advice will be sought from the government regarding the policy concerning these owners. The tax collection department clarified that after receiving the guidelines, action will be taken accordingly.

~311 crore basic tax due

As the penalty on illegal construction is removed, the total base tax of Rs. 311.17 crore is now due which will increase the revenue of the municipality.

Offices open even on public holidays

Tax collection offices will remain open on weekly public holidays and after office hours until March 31 for the payment of basic tax. Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipality has appealed for citizens to take advantage and pay basic income tax immediately.

Pay property taxes, avoid foreclosure

The Municipal Corporation has decided to publish soon in the newspaper the names of the citizens who have not paid the property tax. The tax collection service intensified the campaign to confiscate defaulters’ property and called on defaulters to “pay property tax arrears and avoid confiscation.”

As the penalty for illegal construction has been lifted, citizens must now cooperate with the Municipal Corporation by paying the full amount of the initial tax by the end of March 31. A strict policy will be adopted by the Municipal Corporation to ensure that no illegal construction takes place in the city.
