Taking strict steps against defaulters for burning garbage and contributing to air pollution in the national capital, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has invoiced 1,761 polluters for Rs 38.43 lakh till Saturday within this month.
According to the DMC official, 1,702 challans of Rs 26.43 lakh can be issued from October 1- 17 and invoices worth Rs 12 lakh for dust pollution have been issued from October 17.
Apart from this, more than 86 invoices of other agencies like DDA, PWD, I&FC etc. have also been issued to dump pollution and other garbage on their land covered under North DMC to create pollution.
Answer DMC also asked other agencies: PWD, GNCTD; DSIIDC; D.D.A; I and FC; Indian Railways etc. participate in unpredictable areas under their jurisdiction falling under the North DMC which causes pollution. The total area under his jurisdiction is 16,87,413 sqm.
The North DMC has pressed 134 water sprinkler tankers, covering a distance of about 1,340 km daily. 18 road mechanical sweepers equipped with GPS cover 650kms stretch of road. An area of 109.88 acres has been developed in green color in markets, schools, institutes etc. 69.11 km of road has been developed in green color through tree plantation. Vertical gardens have been developed at 54 places.
All these steps are being taken to check pollution and improve the environment.
NDMC has appealed to the public to follow the instructions issued by the agencies concerned from time to time to check pollution otherwise NDMC will take strict action against the defaulters as per the provisions of rules and regulations.
