Prosecutor of Saint Petersburg Viktor Melnik reported that the real number of dead during the blockade of Leningrad is more than 1 million people, which is significantly higher than official statistics.
As RIA Novosti informs, the prosecutor reported this during the first session of the Sankt-Peterburg city court on the claim of recognition of the blockade of Leningrad by the genocide of the Soviet people.

Melnik added that the prosecutor’s office verified archival and statistical documents, which allowed to establish a significantly larger number of victims during the blockade period.
