Asia Cup schedule announced, India will play Pakistan in Group A fixture on August 28

The schedule for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 has come to an end and India-Pakistan will face off in a Group A clash in Dubai on August 28. The tournament will begin on August 27 and the final will be played on September 11. Earlier, it was confirmed that the Asia Cup will be hosted by Sri Lanka in the United Arab Emirates. The tournament was pulled out of Sri Lanka due to the ongoing economic crisis.

The match against Pakistan will be India’s first in the upcoming Asia Cup, and after this match, the Rohit Sharma-led side will face a qualifier. After the group stage fixtures, there will be a Super 4 stage, and the best two teams will advance to the final.

Jay Shah tweeted, “The wait is over as the battle for Asian supremacy begins on 27th August with the crucial final on 11th September. The 15th edition of the Asia Cup will serve as ideal preparation ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.” , BCCI Secretary.

Earlier, announcing the move of the Asia Cup from Sri Lanka to the United Arab Emirates, Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah said: “Given the current situation in Sri Lanka, the ACC has unanimously concluded after extensive deliberations that it would be appropriate to move the tournament from Sri Lanka to the UAE,” the ACC said in a statement. “Every effort was made to host the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and the decision to move the venue to the UAE was taken after much deliberation. The UAE will be the new venue while Sri Lanka will retain the hosting rights.”

The T20 tournament will be played from August 27 to September 11.
