Commonwealth Games: Boxers Neetu Ghanghas, Husamuddin Mohammed enter semi-finals, medal assured

Indian boxers Husamuddin Mohammed and Neetu Ganghas won two more medals for the country by entering the semi-finals of men’s 57kg and women’s 48kg at the Commonwealth Games here on Wednesday. Husamuddin, 28, from Nizamabad, kept his cool to register a 4-1 win over Namibia’s TryGan Morning and join fellow Indian boxer Neetu in the last four.

Two-time youth gold medalist Neetu, 21, was declared the winner by ABD after her Northern Ireland rival Nicole Clyde threw the towel in the third and final round of the quarterfinal bout.

On the other hand, last edition’s bronze medalist Husamuddin had to fight hard for his division division win against Ndevello.

Three Indian boxers Lovlina Borgohain, Nikhat Zareen and Ashish Kumar will participate in their quarterfinal bouts later in the day.
