CWG 2022: Indian team reaches final of men’s 4×400 relay event

The Indian quartet of Muhammad Anas, Noah Nirmal Tom, Mohammad Ajmal and Amoz Jacob qualified for the final of the men’s 4 x 400 relay event after a stellar performance in their Heat No 2 at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on Friday. The Indian team finished second in Heat 2 with a timing of 3:06.97 seconds. The team at the top was Kenya, clocking a time of 3:06.76s. In third place was the team from Trinidad and Tobago, who finished with a time of 3:07.12 on the board. All three teams have made it to the finals.

Also, Barbados earned a place in the final with a time of 3:07.23 s and finished fourth in their heat.

Also, India’s Ensi Sojan Edapally failed to make it to the final of the women’s long jump event after finishing seventh in the Group A qualifying round and 13th overall.

She put up a best effort of 6.25m in her second attempt. The first six players from his group qualified for the final. The automatic qualifying mark was 6.75 m.

Australia’s Brooke Bushkuhl topped Group A with a best jump of 6.84m. The second and third places were occupied by England’s Lorraine Eugen (best of 6.79m) and Ruth Usoro of Nigeria (best of 6.59m).

Earlier, Indian athlete Jyoti Yaraji failed to qualify for the finals of the women’s 100m hurdles.

She finished fourth in her Round One Heat Two. Yaraji clocked 13.18 seconds and finished 10th overall.


At 12:45 pm, Indian sprinter Hima Das will compete in the women’s 200m semi-final.

The Commonwealth Games 2022 will begin in Birmingham from 28 July to 8 August.
