India’s double Olympic medalist superstar PV Sindhu reached the quarter-finals of the Denmark Open Super 1000 tournament on Thursday after three tough bouts against her rival from Thailand. Sindhu won her last 16 match against Busanan Ongbamrungphan in 67 minutes after a 21-16, 12-21, 21-15 struggle. This is Sindhu’s first tournament after winning a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in August. One of India’s greatest Olympians, Sindhu took a break to rejuvenate before making a comeback in this tournament. India’s big names include London Olympics bronze medalist Saina Nehwal and former men’s world number 1 Kidambi Srikanth.
Later in the day, Lakshya Sen will face world number two Viktor Axelsen, while Sameer Verma will meet host country’s Anders Antonsen.
