South Africa skipper Dean Elgar on Monday termed India skipper Virat Kohli as a ‘world-class player’ who brings a different dynamic to the game. India and South Africa will face off in the third and final Test starting Tuesday in Cape Town. “Virat brings a different kind of dynamism to the game. I don’t think I missed him. But I think potentially his team missed him, no doubt just from a captaincy point of view and probably from a strategy point of view. He is a world class player and has a lot of experience within his squad,” Dean Elgar said during a virtual press conference.

“His name speaks for itself and is one of the more respected cricketers around so I wouldn’t say I missed him…” he added.

Talking about the fitness of the players, the captain said that the players are in good shape and there will be no major change in the playing XI in the final Test.

“I don’t think there is any hiccups with regards to the fitness of the players, obviously, when you play in a series there are always some flaws, especially Test cricket pushes your body to the limit. And I mean if You are not bothered in the slightest, and if you don’t get hurt in the slightest, the bowlers don’t have pain in their feet, then obviously they are not working hard enough,” the Proteas skipper said.

“With regards to the team, with everyone being fit, I don’t see us changing too much and trying to be as stable as we can. I think it’s time for us to compete in a big day series. The playing XI needs to be as stable as possible,” he added.

Elgar also heaped praise on pacer Kagiso Rabada, who will play his 50th Test match on Tuesday.

“Playing 50 Tests for your country is a big deal. When he started he was very raw and had a quick pace and I think he has come of age at that time. He has influenced our group in such a big way on and off the field,” Elgar said.

The Test series between South Africa and India is at 1-1 level and everything is in play in the series decider.
