The England and Wales Cricket Board said on Tuesday that all-rounder Sam Curran will miss the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup due to a back injury. Karan noticed the problem after playing for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League match against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday. Scans revealed an injury to Surrey’s left arm and he will be flying home for further tests and a full review with the England medical team.

Curran’s brother Tom has been called into the England squad to replace the 23-year-old, with injury likely for several weeks.

Reece Topley of Surrey has been added as a traveling reserve and will be joining the England party in due course.
