A foul attempt from the penalty spot has led to what has become the most hilarious football clip on social media this week. On the same night that Kylian Mbappe missed a penalty in PSG’s Champions League clash against Leipzig, English footballer Tom Knowles inadvertently made some headlines of his own with a forgettable penalty attempt in an FA Cup game. It wasn’t Knowles’ penalty miss that was the source of the headlines, as much as the video of his sly attempt to hit an unsuspecting steward standing behind the goal.
Yeovil were level 1–1 at the end of regulation time, playing against fellow fifth-tier side Weymouth in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Yeovil would win the penalty shootout 2–1 to qualify for the first round of the FA Cup.
However, during the shootout, Knowles’ attempt resulted in injury to the face of a steward from the spot, the video of which later went viral on social media.
Steward, possibly a Weymouth fan, however came out full-on and immediately celebrated with fistfights upon realizing Knowles had missed his penalty.

The game was being played at Bob Lucas Stadium in Weymouth. Home fans’ rejoicing at Knowles’ memory was short-lived, as Yeovil won the shootout and made reasonable progress in the first round.
Yeovil’s victory saw them book a spot in the first round of the FA Cup against the winner of a qualifying game between fifth-tier team Dover Athletic and seventh-tier club Yett Town.
