Australia, who were on the losing side after defeats in Nagpur and Delhi, made a strong comeback in the recently concluded third match against India with a nine-wicket win to level the four-match series 1-2. Inspired by Nathan Lyon’s 11 wickets in the match and Matthew Kuhnmann’s five wickets in the first innings, Australia made life difficult for India’s batsmen. India were bundled out for 109 in the first innings, and if not for Cheteshwar Pujara’s half-century in the second innings, the hosts could have lost the game by an innings.

While the Indian spinners – Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin – seemed to have an edge over their Australian counterparts, the visiting spinners in Indore – Lyon and Kuhnmann – completely turned the tables, considering the results of the first two Tests. ,

For the record, all three Tests so far have ended in just two days’ time.

During the post-match press conference in Indore, India captain Rohit Sharma was asked to share his thoughts on the premature conclusion of the matches so far.

Answering the question, Rohit gave a cheeky response saying that the teams are trying to make things interesting for the viewers.

“Guys have to play well for the game to last 5 days. Games aren’t even running for five days outside India. Yesterday, in South Africa, the game finished in three days. First Test match against Australia as well in too. It’s about skill, people have to adapt skill. If pitches are helping bowlers, batsmen need to try and test their skills. It’s always about making sure It’s not that we are playing on flat pitches and results don’t come. I played three Test matches in Pakistan. People were saying it has become so boring. We are making it interesting for you guys,” Rohit said during the post-match press conference.

With this victory, Australia has confirmed its place in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).

India now need a win in the final Test to seal a place in the final against Australia.

The fourth and last Test will be played in Ahmedabad from March 9.
