India became the No.1 Test team… but only for a few hours. what happened here

The Indian cricket team moved up to the No. 1 spot in the ICC rankings on Wednesday afternoon after the official website of the sport’s governing body showed that the Rohit Sharma-led side has overtaken Australia in the latest team rankings. In fact, India ranked no. 1 spot in ODI and T20I formats as well. The news was widely covered by the Indian media. However, at around 7 PM IST, the ICC website showed that Australia is the No. 1 Test side while India is No. 2. India continues to be ranked No. 1 in T20Is and ODIs.

Here is a screenshot of the ICC site, which shows India as the No. 1 team in Tests. Earlier, India (115) was four ratings points ahead of Australia (111) in the Test rankings.

Now, here is the screenshot of the updated ICC website page on rankings. It has not yet been officially announced why the ranking was changed. Now, Australia is on top with 126 rating points while India still has 115 rating points.

Among individuals, India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin moved up to second in the rankings for men’s Test bowlers after his eight-wicket haul against Australia in Nagpur.

Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja, who made a successful comeback after nearly five months due to a knee injury, has moved up to 16th position. ,

The spin duo troubled Australia in the first Test, sharing 15 wickets between them as India won by an innings of 132 runs inside three days.
