India pacer Shardul Thakur on Thursday said the ongoing third Test against South Africa is equally poised and it will be difficult for the Proteas to chase down any score above 300. However, India got off to a poor start as Marco Jensen dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara in the very first over of the third day.

“I think the game is evenly prepared. It is a full second innings game now and there is a lot of time left in the game. There is still some life in the pitch and there is help for the bowlers. Batsmen can also score runs. , so it can go anywhere. To be honest, I don’t think about whether I am a bowling all-rounder or a batting all-rounder. When I am there and do something for the team, it is about making an impact Shardul before the start of the third day’s play of the third Test.

“At the end of the day, I want my performance to be counted in such a way that it helps the team to win. We have talked a lot about the pitch, there is something for the bowlers but like I said earlier, if You play good cricket shots, you can score runs. I think it’s important to bat well in the third innings, and then take it from there. I don’t have any specific numbers (for a goal) but looking at history Any score over 300 would be difficult to chase.”

Jasprit Bumrah’s impressive bowling performance backed by stellar batting performances from Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli helped India regain some lost ground on Day 2 against South Africa.

Till stumps, India were 57/2 and the visitors extended their lead to 70 runs. Kohli (14*) and Pujara (9*) are currently unbeaten at the crease.

Bumrah had said on Wednesday that it is always great to play under Virat Kohli as he brings a lot of energy to the team. Bumrah took a five-wicket haul in the first innings as India bowled out South Africa for 210 to take a slim 13-run lead.

“I made my Test debut under Virat Kohli, it’s always amazing. He’s always there to support us and he’s always a great inspiration to all the bowlers. He brings a lot of energy. It’s always good to play Bumrah started his Test journey in Cape Town and then came back here, I am very happy. Individual performance is always good but when you deliver impressive performances, it gives you more satisfaction.” Virtual press conference after stump on second day
