India’s Probable XI vs Australia, 2nd T20I: Will Jasprit Bumrah Return?
India had a disappointing night after losing against Australia in the first T20I of the three-match series on Tuesday. Despite performing brilliantly with the bat and posting a target of 209, the bowling department failed to live up to the expectations as Australia chased down the mammoth target with four wickets and four balls to spare. In the second T20 match to be played in Nagpur on Friday, Team India will try to strengthen their bowling, especially in the form of fast bowling attack, as the fast bowlers gave 150 runs in just 12 overs in the previous encounter. Another thing that came as a shock to the fans was the absence of pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who was supposed to make a comeback in the match. It will be interesting to see whether Bumrah makes a comeback and if he does, who will replace him in the playing XI.
Here’s what we think of India’s playing XI against Australia in the first T20I:
KL Rahul: The right-handed batsman, who failed to find his rhythm earlier, surprised everyone with his innings of 55 runs in 35 balls.
Rohit Sharma: The captain is in good batting form. Though he had scored just 11 runs in the last encounter, he has a lot of potential to score big scores.
Virat Kohli: After scoring his much-awaited 71st century against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup, the star batsman failed in the previous match and could manage only 2 runs. Despite this, Virat is one of the deadliest batsmen in the line-up.
Suryakumar Yadav: Suryakumar once again proved that he is a reliable batsman for Team India as he scored 46 off 25 balls in the first T20I. The batsman will look to continue his good form in the upcoming clashes.
Dinesh Karthik: The wicketkeeper-batsman was preferred over Rishabh Pant in the first T20I but failed to live up to the expectations as he could manage only 6 runs. It will be interesting to see whether he will be included in the playing XI for the second T20.
Hardik Pandya: The all-rounder completely changed the pace of the game with his knock of 71 off 30 balls. But he could not impress with the ball as he conceded 22 runs in 2 overs. Hardik will try to improve his bowling in the second T20.
Axar Patel: The all-rounder was picked over Ravichandran Ashwin and justified his selection completely. While the rest of the bowling attack was scoring runs, Axar bowled a brilliant 3/17 spell in 4.0 overs.
Ravichandran Ashwin: The right-arm off-spinner was replaced by Axar Patel in the previous match but there is a possibility that he may play in the second T20I in place of the ineffective Yuzvendra Chahal.
Harshal Patel: The right-arm pacer made a comeback in the national team as he was defeated by the Australian batsmen and conceded 49 runs in 4.0 overs. But he should get more chances before the World Cup.
Jasprit Bumrah: It is highly likely that Bumrah will make his comeback, and may replace Bhuvneshwar in the playing XI, as he conceded 52 runs in his four-over spell and kept wickets in the first T20I.
Umesh Yadav: Umesh Yadav was expensive in his first over in Mohali but he came back strong to take two wickets.
