Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals are at the top of the IPL points table with 18 points each. They will face off at the Dubai International Stadium on Monday, with the winner taking a big step towards topping the points table. Both the teams have won nine matches and lost three. CSK will enter the match after a loss to Rajasthan Royals and will be desperate to get back on track before the playoffs. DC, on the other hand, held their nerves in their previous game to set up a tough chase to outperform defending champions Mumbai Indians.
Chennai Super Kings have all looked at home in the UAE, and have lost a match after four consecutive wins. Despite the defeat, there were many pluses for MS Dhoni’s team.
Rituraj Gaikwad scored his maiden century in the Indian Premier League by climbing to the top of the Orange Cap race. Faf du Plessis is also looking good but the bowling came for a few sticks in the match against Rajasthan Royals.
Driven by Gaikwad’s ton, CSK posted 189 for four in their 20 overs, but RR made full fun of the chase with rioters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube in Abu Dhabi.
CSK would hope that the day off was just a blip for the bowlers.
Delhi Capitals bounced back from a loss to Kolkata Knight Riders by defeating Mumbai Indians in a low-scoring match in Sharjah. DC’s pace attack is one of the best in the league and despite a day off for Kagiso Rabada, Enrique Nortje and Avesh Khan once again impressed.
Avesh Khan, in particular, is a revelation for Delhi this season, and skipper Rishabh Pant will be hoping that the youngster continues to shine.
With the bat, the top-order failed miserably against MI but Shreyas Iyer opened the innings brilliantly while Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin also made significant contributions for DC.
