Delhi Capitals batsman Shimron Hetmyer has said that he is paid to finish games for his team and to be able to work against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 is a good one. There is a feeling. Hetmyer played an unbeaten 28 off just 18 balls to help Delhi Capitals beat CSK by three wickets with two balls to spare. With this win, the Rishabh Pant-led team has moved up to the top of the points table with 20 points from 13 matches.
“It’s very important for me to finish the game. I tell people that I get paid for it and I try to finish as many games as possible. I thought I got out (on his catch),” And that guy missed and I was grateful,” Hetmyer told host broadcaster Star Sports after the game ended.
“It was just about batting the ball. The 19th over was where I thought I would try and hit a six and bring it down as much as possible. I had enough practice against Bravo in the CPL. Knew he would go with the ground he had, and I wanted to go straight against him. It paid off twice,” he said.
Earlier, Ambati Rayudu played an unbeaten knock of 55 off 43 balls as CSK posted a total of 136/5 in the allotted twenty overs. Axar Patel made a comeback with figures of 2-18 for Delhi Capitals.
“It’s difficult but the pace we need to bowl on this pitch is difficult to assess. I thought they were five or ten runs short in the powerplay. The discussion with Hetmyer was about the lines that They will bowl. They told me they would bowl wides and they told me to play straight and look for singles. Matches like this give you a lot of confidence in the knockouts,” Axar told Star Sports.
Delhi Capitals will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday.
