On 27 September, PTI had reported that Kuldeep suffered a serious knee injury and was likely to miss most of the upcoming domestic season, having already returned to India with his IPL campaign cut short.
The out-of-favour India international, who was with the Kolkata Knight Riders, is expected to go through a lengthy rehabilitation process before attempting a return to competitive cricket.
A senior BCCI official had revealed, “Yes, we have received information that Kuldeep suffered a serious knee injury during a practice session in the UAE. Apparently he bent his knee while fielding and this Was really bad.”
“There was no chance that he could have taken any further part and was sent back to India.”
The Kanpur-based cricketer has played seven Tests, 65 ODIs and 23 T20Is for a total of 174 wickets across all formats.
He last played for India in Sri Lanka, but it was a mediocre performance with best figures of 2/48 in an ODI game and 2/30 in T20 Internationals.
He played two more matches during that tour – one ODI and one T20I – in which he went without taking a wicket.
