Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) kept their playoff hopes alive by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets in Match 49 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 in Dubai on Sunday. With this win, KKR consolidated their fourth position in the points table and now have 12 points from 13 matches. Earlier in the day, Royal Challengers Bangalore qualified for the playoffs with a six-run win over Punjab Kings. KL Rahul bagged the Orange Cap from Ruturaj Gaikwad with a knock of 39 runs. The Punjab Kings captain has now scored 528 runs in 12 matches, 26 more than Ruturaj (502).
IPL 2021 Points Table
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals both have 18 points from 12 matches but CSK are leading the points table thanks to a better net run-rate.
RCB made it to the playoffs with a win over Punjab Kings on Sunday and are third with 16 points after 12 matches.
KKR, who defeated SRH on Sunday, are fourth with 12 points. Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals have 10 points for fifth place.
SRH are at the bottom of the points table with just two wins so far this season.
KL Rahul’s innings of 39 vs RCB saw him surpass Ruturaj Gaikwad in the race for the Orange Cap.
He is followed by Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson with 480 runs. Shikhar Dhawan of Delhi Capitals is fourth in this list with 462 runs to his name.
CSK opener Faf du Plessis is fifth in the list of leading run-scorers in IPL 2021 with 460 runs.
Harshal Patel failed to take any wicket against Punjab Kings but is still very much ahead in the Purple Cap race with 26 wickets in 12 matches.
Avesh Khan of Delhi Capitals is second in the list of leading wicket takers with 21 wickets.
Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah are at the third and fourth positions with 18 and 17 wickets respectively.
