Sunrisers Hyderabad may have lost their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) but pacer Umran Malik impressed everyone with his quick pace to dodge the opposition batsmen. Malik, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir, bowled two deliveries at a speed of 150 kmph on the speed gun and his fastest delivery was 151.03. As a result, he is now the only Indian in the top ten to deliver the fastest deliveries for this season. The 21-year-old Malik made a delivery at 146 kmph in his very first over, and then he entered the 150s twice on the speed gun.
He conceded just 27 runs in his four overs. Shubman Gill hit 57 runs at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday as KKR beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by six wickets with two balls to spare. With this win, KKR have consolidated their position at the fourth position and the team now has 12 points from 13 matches.
Earlier, a spirited bowling performance helped KKR restrict SRH to 115/8 in the allotted twenty overs. Tim Southee, Shivam Mavi and Varun Chakraborty took two wickets each for the Eoin Morgan-led side, while Kane Williamson scored 26 runs for SRH.
Sunrisers Hyderabad had brought in medium-pacer Umran Malik as a short-term COVID-19 replacement for T Natarajan for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 campaign in the United Arab Emirates.
Natarajan had tested positive for COVID-19 on September 22 ahead of the team’s fixture against Delhi Capitals. Before playing against KKR, Malik played one T20 and List A match for Jammu and Kashmir and took a total of four wickets.
