Kiran Navagire writes ‘MSD 07′ on his bat in WPL, Grace Harris’ reaction see pics

UP Warriors registered a three-wicket win against Gujarat Giants in a thrilling Women’s Premier League match on Sunday. Electing to bat first, Gujarat posted a total of 169/6 after Harleen Deol scored a quickfire 46 off 32 balls. Later in the chase, the Alyssa Healy-led side lost quick wickets after Kim Garth took five wickets and troubled the UP batsmen. However, Kiran Navagire and Grace Harris played flamboyant knocks of 53 and 59* respectively to take UP over the line with one ball to spare.

After the match ended in UP’s favour, the one thing that grabbed the most attention was Kiron Navagire’s bat as she paid tribute to former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni in a unique way.

As Kiran’s bat had no sponsor, he wrote MS Dhoni’s name along with his jersey number on the back of it as a tribute. His bat had “MSD 07” written on it.

Apart from fans, Kiran’s teammate Harris was also touched by his gesture as she posted a video from the match on Instagram and captioned her story, “#GetKiranABatSponsor.”

Apart from Navagire and Harris, Sophie Ecclestone also played a blistering 12-ball 22 and also took two wickets. Deepti Sharma also made an important contribution to UP’s victory by taking two wickets.

This was Gujarat’s second defeat in the ongoing tournament as they had earlier lost against Mumbai Indians in their first match of the season. UP Warriors will now face Delhi Capitals in their next encounter on Tuesday. On the other hand, on Wednesday, Gujarat Giants will face Royal Challengers Bangalore.
