Manchester City will be without Ferran Torres for several weeks as the Spain forward suffered a leg fracture while on international duty. Torres is believed to have suffered an injury during Spain’s UEFA Nations League semi-final win against Italy. The 21-year-old was declared fit for the Nations League final defeat against France but was ruled out in the second half in Milan on Sunday. “Ferran Torres sustained an injury to his right leg while on international duty,” City said in a statement on Thursday.
The City forward, who won Spain’s UEFA Nations League semi-final twice over Italy and made his showpiece final debut against France, has suffered a minor fracture.
“He has since returned to Manchester for testing and will continue to be monitored.”
Subsequent tests have now revealed the extent of Torres’ injury and could force him to miss out on a period of critical testing for both club and country.
In the coming weeks, Premier League champions City will face the Manchester derby at Old Trafford, as well as Champions League matches against Bruges and Paris Saint-Germain.
Spain will play next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Greece and Sweden.
