Mohammad Rizwan hit by Haris Rauf in PSL match, Shaheen Afridi’s gesture for Pakistan teammate won hearts. Watch

Lahore Qalandars registered a 21-run win over Multan Sultans in their previous Pakistan Super League (PSL) match. Qalandars opted to bat after Sam Billings and Abdullah Shafiq scored 54 and 48 respectively and posted a total of 180/9 in 20 overs. Later, Sultans were restricted to 159/7 after Rashid Khan took three wickets. Apart from a high-scoring match, the fans also witnessed heart-warming moments on the field which boosted the sporting spirit.

During the fifth over of Sultan’s chase, a sharp delivery from fast bowler Haris Rauf hit rival captain Mohammad Rizwan on the elbow. Moaning in pain, Rizwan had to drop his bat and completed the single with great difficulty. After the delivery, fast bowler and Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi came forward and tried to console Rizwan, who was visibly in pain. While Rizwan tried to convince the pacer that he was fine, Shaheen pointed to the dugout to seek medical help.

The video soon went viral on social media as fans were moved by Shaheen’s heart-warming gesture.

With this win, the Qalandars now have six wins from seven matches and have topped the points table. At the same time, Sultan is at number two with four wins in seven matches.

The Shaheen Afridi-led side will now take on Peshawar Zalmi in their next PSL encounter on Tuesday, while Sultans will take on Islamabad United on the same day.
